It supports the implementation of Citywide Inclusive Sanitation (CWIS) and Safely Managed Sanitation Services (SMSS) through policy advocacy, capacity building, evidence generation, and community-led accountability mechanisms. Project Description: This project is being implemented focusing on the Panadura urban area in the Kalutara District, under the guidance of the Sri Lanka FANSA Foundation and the Centre for Environmental Justice. The primary aim of the project is to identify and address the prevailing issues related to water and sanitation faced by the people in the Panadura urban limits.Through the involvement of officials from grassroots to government level, the project seeks to raise awareness and mobilize action around issues concerning sanitation and access to clean water in the city. This initiative is carried out in collaboration with the Panadura Urban Council. Specific areas within the Panadura city limits have been selected to identify locations facing critical challenges related to sanitation and clean water. Relevant officials have been informed regarding these issues to facilitate appropriate interventions. As part of this project, a WASH Monitoring Center has been established to bring attention to the prevailing problems across Panadura's municipal boundaries. Activities such as cleaning public toilets in Panadura with youth groups, organizing art sessions with schoolchildren in Modaravila, and conducting street dramas in public areas have been carried out through this initiative. Government officials, youth groups, civil society organizations, and the local community have extended their support to these efforts. The overarching objective of this project is to ensure access to proper sanitation services and clean water for all residents throughout the city.
